Security sources confirmed that twenty medical students kidnapped in Benue State have been rescued on Friday night.
The operation was coordinated by the office of the National Security Adviser, with the involvement of multiple security agencies, including the police, DSS, and military, alongside support from the Benue State government.
While the students have regained their freedom, details of the rescue operation remain unclear.
The students were on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu when they were ambushed during their journey.
They were traveling in a convoy of two buses from the northern part of the country when the incident occurred on Thursday evening at around 5:30 pm.
Following the abduction, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦50 million for the release of the students.
