In recognition of his groundbreaking leadership and people-centered policies that have significantly improved the lives of Plateau citizens, The Sun Newspaper has formally conferred the prestigious Governor of the Year 2024 award on His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

The award was presented at a grand ceremony on Saturday night at the EXPO Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, celebrating his exceptional contributions to infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture, power generation, and security.

Barrister Neya Kalu, Chairman and Publisher of The Sun Publishing Limited, described Governor Mutfwang as a symbol of hope and a great inspiration, commending his progressive reforms, particularly in the resuscitation of tourism and economic revitalization in Plateau State.

She explained that the awardees were chosen for their dedication to good governance, resilience, and excellence, which continue to shape the nation’s progress.

Receiving the award amidst an entourage of respected traditional rulers, local government chairmen, party leaders, and other distinguished stakeholders, Governor Mutfwang dedicated the honor to the people of Plateau State, acknowledging their unwavering support.

“It is a great delight and joy to stand here and receive this award on behalf of the good people of Plateau State. For us, this award is an energizer, a motivation to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the citizens who stood by us through thick and thin. They celebrated our victory at the polls and again when it was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court,” he stated.

He reassured Nigerians that his administration is only at the beginning of an era of transformation, promising that Plateau State’s progress will soon be a national reference point.

Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Plateau State Chapter, who led a delegation on behalf of ALGON Chairman Hon. Hamisu Anani, described Governor Mutfwang as a true grassroots leader.

He noted that in less than two years, the governor’s visionary leadership has redefined governance on the Plateau, bringing about unprecedented rural transformation, particularly through massive road construction projects and significant investments across all sectors.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Ramnap, described the award as well-deserved, pointing out that Governor Mutfwang’s tenure has rekindled the hope of Plateau citizens, saying the administration’s commitment to healthcare, water supply, education, agriculture, and tourism ensures that development reaches every corner of the state.
