    2. Daniel Dubois retained the IBF heavyweight title by knocking out former two-time world champion, Anthony Joshua in the fifth round in a dominant first defense of his belt on Saturday at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Joshua had already been floored in the first and third rounds before falling after a powerful straight right hand by Dubois, prompting the referee to stop the fight.

    3. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday night raised an alarm alleging that the All Progressives Congress, APC, planned to use thugs to attack the collation center for the ongoing governorship election in Edo State to manipulate results. A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba claimed that the APC is mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to suspend the collation process.

    4. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it is investigating claims of a wrong polling unit result manipulation in the Edo election. The development comes after controversial figures were seen as the result from a Polling Unit in Etsako East. In the result which was uploaded on IREV, the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 352 votes from the unit which had only 213 accredited voters.

    5. The Anambra State Police Command says it has raided a criminal hideout in Lilu, Mbosi in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state. In a statement on Saturday, the spokesman for the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the raid was following security intelligence gathered over time, adding that joint security forces carried out the operation.

    6. This was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on X.com, in the early hours of Saturday.

    7. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has charged the Edo electorate to disregard election results in circulation as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was still collating results. Mr Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary gave the advice in a statement, on Saturday in Abuja. The party also expressed confidence that its candidate will be announced winner.

    8. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded for the immediate and unconditional release of voters, including PDP members and supporters who were illegally arrested by “APC compromised security operatives” while peacefully queuing to vote in the on-going Governorship election in Edo State.

    9. The National leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has disclosed that he is focused on a mission to rescue Nigeria from the present economic quagmire. He also said the party would strengthen its state chapters in its bid to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.

    10. The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force said its personnel have arrested a notorious gunrunner and recovered 20 locally fabricated AK-47 rifles. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Mansir Hassan, said the suspect, Bitrus Gyang, who hails from Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, was apprehended on September 19, 2024, at Buruku Bridge during a routine patrol by officers from the Buruku Division.
