The Dangote Refinery has officially started petrol production, marking a major development for both Nigeria and the broader Sub-Saharan Africa region.
During a press conference in Lagos state, billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote made the exciting announcement.
He assured Nigerians that the refinery’s production capacity is sufficient to meet the demands of both Nigeria and the Sub-Saharan regions of Africa, promising a significant shift in the fuel supply dynamics.
Dangote also brought a sample of the petrol to the conference, assuring consumers that the high quality of the fuel would help their vehicle engines last longer, comparable to standards in well-developed countries.
With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery has produced its first Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol.
The billionaire businessman declared that the product would be released onto the market as soon as his company completes the necessary paperwork with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
