Jos Water Corporation's Move to Silence Jay 101.9 Fm for Reporting on Water Scarcity Sparks Outrage

The Jos Water Services Corporation’s petition to the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, against Jay 101.9 FM radio station for consistently calling on the body to ensure adequate water supply has sparked widespread condemnation from residents.

The corporation in a petition addressed to the NBC accused the radio station of consistently criticizing its failure to provide adequate water supply, but residents say the move is an attempt to intimidate the media organization and avoid accountability.

Timothy Dalyop, a civil servant who spoke on the development, says it is a clear case of intimidation that must not be allowed to fly.

Hannatu Dauda, a resident of Jos North, expressed frustration with the corporation’s actions asking it instead to focus on solving the problem of water scarcity.

Naomi Pam, a mother of three, said her family has been without clean water for weeks while indicating that JayFm is only being victimized for standing on the side of the masses while appreciating the media outfit for doing the right thing.

She says they must not be deterred but continue to point out the challenge of water for what it is.
