The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 16 kidnap victims from a violent extremist group in Kaduna State.
According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the rescue operation took place in Tantatu Community of Kajuru Local Government Area.
Responding to actionable intelligence on March 17, 2024, at about 10:30pm, troops from 1 Division swiftly tracked down the insurgents who had earlier attacked the community and abducted villagers.
The troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight, ultimately rescuing 16 kidnapped victims. They are continuing their efforts to search and rescue other victims and to halt the insurgents’ nefarious activities.
Major General Nwachukwu stated that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, commended the troops for their successful rescue operation and urged them to remain vigilant in ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the country.
