Plateau State Partners With National Sports Commission to Boost Sports Development

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, welcomed Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, to the NSC Secretariat in Abuja.

The meeting provided a platform to discuss a strategic roadmap for advancing mutual interests in sports between the state and the commission.

During the discussions, both parties agreed to establish a joint-working committee that will implement the objectives set in the identified areas of collaboration. This committee will ensure that the partnership achieves its intended goals.

One of the major issues discussed was the completion of the New Jos Township Stadium, a key project of the current Plateau administration. Governor Mutfwang affirmed the state’s commitment to seeing the project through, while the NSC pledged to support the state’s efforts.

Additionally, the NSC plans to activate its Training Center in Plateau State, with the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This move is seen as a significant boost to sports development in the region.

Governor Mutfwang commended President Tinubu for re-establishing the National Sports Commission and praised the appointment of Mallam Dikko as Chairman. He expressed confidence in Dikko’s ability to steer Nigerian sports in the right direction.

The governor further highlighted that Dikko’s appointment had received widespread approval, adding that it was clear Nigerian sports were on the path to progress under his leadership.

Mallam Dikko shared the governor’s optimism, emphasizing Governor Mutfwang’s deep understanding of sports and his commitment to developing the sector in Plateau State. Dikko noted that this partnership would open new opportunities for Plateau to excel in athletics, particularly in long-distance races.

Both leaders are confident that the joint-working committee will spearhead sports development in Plateau State, and the collaboration will yield significant results for both parties.
