A teenage apprentice named Ojibe Chibueze allegedly committed suicide after being accused of stealing money from his boss.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the 17-year-old boy’s death on Wednesday.
Hundeyin notified the press that the deceased’s sister, Cynthia, reported the case to the Elemoro Police Division at approximately 7:50 a.m. on March 13th.
According to the police spokeswoman, when the woman arrived at the station, she described how Chibueze returned from work on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m., took some money, and left.
She claimed that the teenage boy’s master later called to inform her that her brother had reportedly stolen N100,000 from his shop.
The woman stated that her brother did not return home until she received a phone call from a neighbour who informed her that Chibueze had been discovered lifeless at Abijo Bus Stop, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
She claimed she rushed to the site and discovered her brother’s body with a can of sniper besides him, which she assumed he drank to death.
Hundeyin stated that after detectives received the information, they immediately went to the scene and discovered the deceased body, which had foam gushing out of his mouth and nostril.
The sniper can has been found and is now an exhibit. The corpse has been removed and taken to Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
